Morgantown man charged with attempted murder over tacos

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – A Morgantown man has been charged with attempted murder after threatening to kill someone over tacos.

Deputies from the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department and troopers from the West Virginia State Police were called to a home on Warm Hollow Road, where the victim said Dale Martin, 53, threatened to shoot him because they “had eaten all of the tacos.”

The victim told the police Martin went to the bedroom to get a .22 caliber rifle, and when he saw Martin with the rifle, he ran up the staircase.

The victim said Martin fired the rifle into the staircase where he had just been.

Additionally, a witness told police Martin called him to tell him he had shot the victim and reportedly said,” Don’t think I won’t get the 12-guage and blow his head off.”

Deputies were able to locate the rifle, a spent shell casing, and at least two locations in the home where bullets were fired inside and penetrated the walls.

Martin is being held in the North Central Regional Jail.
