Morgantown native to be first black female to coach in NFL title game

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. The fourth woman to ever coach in the history of the National Football League will be the first black woman and a native of Morgantown. Autumn Lockwood graduated from University High School (UHS) in 2012 and currently serves as a strength and conditioning specialist with the Philadelphia Eagles.

After her time at UHS, Lockwooed earned a BS in criminal justice in 2015 and a master’s degree in sports management from East Tennessee State University in 2020.

Lockwood helped the Hawks win state titles in 2009 and 2010 in WVSSAC Class AAA soccer. She was an all-state selection before playing for three seasons for the Arizona Wildcats.

She has been working on her strength and conditioning in football at the college level with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV).

Her father played cornerback on the WVU football team from 1985 to 1988 and enjoyed a 30-year coaching career after playing.
