MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A new event is kick starting graduation weekend around West Virginia University. The “Mountaineer Send-off” is tonight from 7 to 8:30 at the WVU Coliseum and was the idea of President Gordon Gee.
“When I came back we didn’t have a common celebration. We didn’t have one chance to get together and celebrate,” Gee explained on Morgantown A.M.
“Mountaineer Send-off” will be a chance for the entire Class of 2015 to come together one last time – similar to the New Student Welcome when freshmen first arrive on campus – before heading out into the world of work, travel or more school.
“We’re going to create a new tradition here, which will be a way for us to celebrate,” Gee said.
Of course, Gee will be there and said he’ll be ready to take as many selfies as necessary.
