MUB awarded grant to cover partial costs of WestRidge, Chaplin Hill utility upgrades

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The Morgantown Utility Board (MUB) will receive $3 million in grants from the West Virginia Water Development Authority (WVDA) for water and sewer upgrades in the Chaplin Hill area. The projects will ensure adequate water and sewer system capacity to allow for future growth around WestRidge and Mylan Park.

“We appreciate the Water Development Authority’s support, the projects we are talking about are critical to ensuring capacity exists to support the WestRidge and Mylan Park areas,” said MUB Director of Communications Chris Dale.

The grants being approved by the WVDA will dedicate $1.5 million for water upgrades, with sewer upgrades receiving the same amount. Despite the financial support from the WVDA, MUB is still seeking another $4 million to fully fund the upgrades. MUB is currently working with local stakeholders to close the remaining gap so growth can continue in the Morgantown Area.

“From here, we will promptly begin working with area stakeholders to close the remaining $4 million gap to fully fund these projects,” said Dale. “There is no doubt that we will work through this, these infrastructure projects are just to important for our area,” he said.
