New Clarksburg city manager looks for a quick start

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. – The next city manager for the city of Clarksburg, Tiffany Fell, has been sworn in and is ready to get busy. Fell comes to Clarksburg from Springfield, Manitoba, where she was an elected member of council and served as the director of communications and legislative affairs. She also served as the interim chief administration officer in Springfield, similar to the city manager position in Clarksburg.

“I’m really looking forward to hopefully bringing some new businesses to Clarksburg, and I’m hoping to expand the existing businesses and support the businesses that are here,” Fell said.

Fell has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Winnipeg and a master’s degree in global leadership from the University of Fredericton. In addition to her experience in government, she also has a background in finance and business development.

“I think my experience is a great match for what the city is looking for,” Fell said. “I love to focus on business development, but the council has told me we have to focus on some code issues to clean the city up a bit.”

It’s been since April of 2020 since the city has had a permanent city manager, and Fell wants to keep existing projects on schedule and pursue the agenda put forth by city council members. Councilor-elect Martin Howe left the position in August of 2019 after a bitter legal battle with the city resulted in a more than $200,000 settlement in his favor.

“I want to ensure we’re moving projects and initiatives forward,” Fell said. “And we’re moving at a good pace to show value for the tax dollars to the residents of Clarksburg.”

Fell said Clarksburg is very similar to her home in Springfield and she is excited to get settled. The community and activities offered in the surrounding area will be favorites for her and her family while she works to make the city better.

“I love the people and love West Virginia; I’m excited to settle into Clarksburg,” Fell said. “I’m living in the city now and looking forward to a positive future for the city and its residents.”

Fell signed a contract that pays her $140,000 per year.
