MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Beginning this fall, a half dozen flights a day will be offered out of the Morgantown Municipal Airport through a new air service provider.
Morgantown Interim City Manager Glen Kelly said passengers will immediately notice a difference in reliability when Southern Airlines moves in.
“They’re 99.5% completion rate for last month out of the Pittsburgh area which is fantastic compared to where we were with Silver which was around 70% normally.”
Initially, Kelly said Southern Airlines will fly three times a day to Pittsburgh International Airport and three times a day to Dulles International Airport in Washington D.C.
“These tickets are generally going to be around $29 to Pittsburgh one way and $49 to $59 to Dulles,” Kelly noted. “It’s very cost efficient. It’s a very green aircraft because of low carbon emissions. And, they do not charge baggage fees.”
Service begins October 1.
“We are going to have some flexible times. We have a company that could possibly even grow to more flights with us if we fill them up. And, I believe once we get people coming back, we will,” Kelly said.
The Memphis based airline will provide 9 passenger Cessna Caravans out of Morgantown.
