No injuries reported in Monongalia County Schools bus crash

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. A bus from the Monongalia County Schools District was involved in a rear-end crash Thursday morning. Transportation Director Tony Harris said the bus was sitting at the intersection of Burroughs and Collins Ferry Road when it was hit, and no injuries were reported.

“Bus 281 was running the elementary school route and approached the stop sign,” Harris said. “While at the stop sign, a vehicle came up behind and rear-ended the bus.”

Harris advises the public to use caution when sharing the road with students and school buses. Harris said all buses have external cameras that are used to determine what happened in these cases.

“We make a lot of stops, especially in the city limits; we have more stops than in rural areas,” Harris said. “Please be patient with us as we’re making our stops to pick up or drop off our students.”

The Morgantown Police Department conducted the investigation. The Morgantown Fire Department, Mon EMS, and Monongalia County Schools Transportation Department assisted.
