MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Even under adverse economic conditions, health care industry leaders are still hiring.

WVU HealthCare, with facilities in Morgantown, Fairmont and Bridgeport, is seeking applicants for more than 400 vacancies.

“I think Morgantown is experiencing tremendous growth, not only WVU Healthcare but the whole area. I see great need for this area for folks who live here locally and for folks that are moving into the state,” acknowledged Deveran George, WVU HealthCare Human Resources Manager.

Interested applicants are encouraged to attend open interview sessions Monday, June 15, for the health system from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the WVU Erickson Alumni Center.

The invitation comes after recent news of mining industry layoffs in the region.

“We hope some of those folks will come and meet with us so we can talk to them about opportunities. In addition to our current numbers, we expect more openings throughout the year,” George said.

The open jobs include both clinical and non-clinical positions; some are entry-level jobs and others require some level of experience.

“When folks think of a hospital, they think just health care and nurses and clinical positions. In addition to nurses and nursing assistants, we also need information technology professionals, clerical workers, housekeeping assistants just to name a few,” George explained.

WVU HealthCare needs part-time and full-time employees. According to George, benefits are enticing for a number of reasons.

“We have a very competitive benefits and pay and compensation package. We have a very flexible environment. We have lots of folks that work flexible options to help them meet childcare needs.”

Tuition reimbursement and on-the-job training is available for some positions.
