One arrested in alleged Preston County carjacking

PRESTON COUNTY, W.Va. – West Virginia State Police made an arrest in an apparent Preston County carjacking Monday.

Troopers then learned one of the two suspects who allegedly took a silver Jeep at gunpoint was Chandler Martin, 21, of New Martinsville.

Later that day, Troppers encountered Martin walking along old Route 73 while investigating a crash involving a stolen vehicle.

Martin told troopers he was a passenger in the vehicle, the driver fled on foot, and the driver had the weapon reported during the alleged theft of the silver Jeep earlier in the day.

Martin is in the North Central Regional Jail, charged with transferring or receiving a stolen vehicle.
