One charged in Monongalia County accident that injured WVU student, Weston native

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A man is facing charges following a Feb. 20 accident involving a pick-up truck and a pedestrian on Monongahela Boulevard that has put the victim in the hospital for weeks.

Police arrested Garrett Tederick, age and hometown unknown, on counts of reckless driving, failure to obey a traffic control device, and failure to use due care.

Tederick is accused of driving the Ford F-250 that hit Sarah Queen, a 20-year-old WVU student and native of Weston, last month along Monongahela Boulevard.

Queen was in Ruby Memorial Hospital until March 1, and police said still hospitalized elsewhere as late as March 19. Her condition Monday is unclear.

Tederick is the second driver to face charges following an auto-pedestrian accident in Monongalia County in the last month.

20-year-old Michelle Galada of New York was charged Feb. 28 with negligent homicide in the Feb. 1 death of 21-year-old Leah Berhanu, a WVU student and Monongalia County native.

Another man was injured ahead of the Feb. 26 WVU-Texas Tech men’s basketball game in an auto-pedestrian accident in that area.
