One charged with failure to render aid following Fairmont overdose death

Fairmont, W.Va. – A Harrison County man is accused of failing to render aid to a person suffering an overdose in a Fairmont motel.

According to police, they responded to a call for an unresponsive person in the motel around 12:25 p.m. on Nov. 23. When deputies arrived, they found a man on the bed closest to the door who appeared to have been deceased for several days.

During the investigation, police found drugs in the room and determined it was rented by Lloyd Parker, 44, of Spelter, on Nov. 18.

Police confirmed via video surveillance that the deceased person was last seen alive on Nov. 19, just after 11 p.m.

A female, one of three in the room, told police Parker was smoking heroin with the victim. She left the room with Parker on November 20 and never returned.

Video evidence suggests the victim did not leave the room until Nov. 23.

Parker is being held in the North Central Regional Jail in lieu of a $100,512 bond.
