MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Investigators discovered the remains of a body in a Smithtown Road home following a fire early Tuesday morning.
The Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office and the State Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating the source of the fire and how the person inside the home died.

Fire departments from Clinton District, Coal Springs, Triune-Halleck, and Granville responded to the fire around 5:45 a.m. Tuesday morning.
The Medical Examiner was also on scene.
