One dead in single vehicle wreck along Point Marion Road

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — One person is dead following a vehicle crash shortly before midnight Tuesday.

The Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department has not yet positively identified the victim, but said a woman was thrown from a vehicle and was pronounced dead the scene of an accident on Point Marion Road.

Deputies responded at 11:58 p.m. Tuesday after a 2003 Ford Explorer traveling south on Point Marion Road went over the side of a hill.

The driver, identified as Robert G. Vanluvanee, is being treated at Ruby Memorial Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Vanluvanee reportedly lost control of the vehicle, leading to the wreck.

Accident reconstructionists are still diagramming the crash scene. The entire investigation is currently ongoing.
