One dies in Bridgeport fire early Monday

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – One person died in an early Monday morning fire in the Belasco Mobile Park.

Chief of the Bridgeport Fire Department, Phil Hart, said the initial call came in just before 4 a.m.

“The fire department arrived to find the trailer fully involved in the rear section of the trailer, which appears to be the origin of the fire,” Hart said.

Hart said firefighters from Spelter, Shinnston, Anmore, and Nutter Fort assisted Bridgeport, and there were no injuries.

“There was an adjacent trailer that did suffer heat damage; the siding was melted on it, but it did not suffer fire damage,” Hart said.

Investigators from the West Virginia Fire Marshal’s Office and Medical Examiner have been on the scene. The cause remains under investigation.

“There is nothing suspicious about this fire,” Hart said. “At this time, there are two state fire marshals on the scene trying to determine the cause.”
