One hurt, one jailed in Clarksburg pursuit, vehicle theft

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. – One person is in custody and another is hospitalized after a pursuit turned car theft early Wednesday morning.

Around 4 a.m., officers from the Clarksburg Police Department were pursuing a motorcycle into town on Route 50. When the motorcyclist entered town, he clipped a pickup truck near Joyce Street and crashed.

When a person stopped to render aid, a woman who was a passenger on the motorcycle got in that car and fled.

Police apprehended the female on Route 50 near Lake Folyd and Wolf Summit.

Route 50 was closed until 6 a.m. while police cleared the scene.
