Overnight fire in Elkins results in fatality

ELKINS, W.Va. — An overnight fire in Randolph County that claimed the life of one individual is under investigation by the State Fire Marshals Office.

According to the Elkins Fire Department, they and the Beverly Fire Department responded early Monday morning to the scene on Diamond Street.

There were other individuals in the home at the time, but reportedly the individual who died was the only one harmed. The others were assisted by the Red Cross in finding temporary shelter.

The State Fire Marshals Office was on the scene later that morning to investigate. The State Medical Examiner’s Office was also called to the scene.

More information is expected to be released as the investigation, assisted by the Belington Fire Department, continues.
