Pennsylvania man charged in downtown Morgantown shooting

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Police in Morgantown have arrested an 18-year-old in connection with the downtown shooting November 5.

Police allege Nyquan McCargo, 18, of Uniontown, Pennsylvania, was wearing a ski mask when he shot at another person six times around 1:30 a.m. on Fayette Street near Chestnut and High Streets.

The victim was hit in both legs and self-transported himself to a hospital in Pennsylvania.

The victim told police McCargo attempted to fight him earlier in the evening at a nightclub and was removed by bouncers. Not long after the altercation McCargo allegedly shot the victim.

Police said McCargo was questioned immediately following the incident, but police did not find a gun.

McCargo now faces wanton endangerment with a firearm and attempted murder charges. He is being held at North Central Regional Jail on a $75,000 bond.
