Pennsylvania man pleads guilty to all charges in Grafton Walmart shooting

GRAFTON, W.Va. The Pennsylvania man facing multiple charges in a Memorial Day shooting at the Grafton Walmart last year has agreed to plead guilty to all charges.

William Jenkins, 24, of Friendsville, Pa., pleaded guilty to attempted second-degree murder, wanton endangerment involving a firearm, use or presentation of a firearm during a commission of a felony, and fleeing in a vehicle from law enforcement, showing reckless indifference for the safety of others.

On May 29, 2023, Jenkins and the subject he shot, Clayton Anderson, were with a group of three others looking for tree spikes. When the group could not find the items at the Morgantown Walmart, they drove to Grafton to continue the search.

Jenkins reported that he fired a gun inside the Grafton Walmart three times, hitting Anderson in the leg and in the hand. Jenkins then fled the store to a car and began to drive toward the Marion County line with police in pursuit.

As Jenkins fled, his car became disabled on East Grafton Road, where he shot himself in the face. Jenkins was hospitalized for weeks with the wounds.

Jenkins was indicted by a grand jury for one count of attempted murder, one count of wanton endangerment involving a firearm, one count of use or presentation of a firearm during a commission of a felony, and fleeing in a vehicle from law enforcement, showing reckless indifference for the safety of others.
