Police look for tips to find Bridgeport carjacker

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Police in Bridgeport continue to search for the suspect in a carjacking at the Meadowbrook Mall on Friday.

The suspect ordered the female victim out of the car in the parking lot of a department store and fled the scene. Sgt. C.B. Sayers says the car was recovered that night and is still being processed by evidence technicians.

Sayers provided a description and hopes someone may have seen something that can help them find the suspect.

“White male, wearing jeans, a gray T-shirt, a backpack with green straps, a dark blue hooded sweatshirt draped over the backpack and appeared scruffy.”

Sayers emphasizes that this is not a trend, but urges people to take precautions.

“Don’t be afraid to lock your doors if you’re sitting by yourself in a car, it’s always a good practice to keep your doors locked,” Sayers said,”Be aware of your surroundings and don’t hesitate to call 911 if you see a suspicious person, maybe someone is looking into car windows, you can make that call if something doesn’t feel right and the officers will be in the area.”
