Post-season basketball for WVU in Morgantown and California

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — WVU will have at least two post-season basketball games to close out the week.

After missing the NCAA tournament as one of the last four out, the WVU Women’s Basketball team learned Monday they will host Bucknell in the opening round of the WNIT.

That game will be played Thursday, March 15 at the Coliseum. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.

The WVU (24-10) men’s team takes the floor Friday afternoon in San Diego, California in the 5-12 match-up against Murray State (26-5). The Racers won the Ohio Valley Conference.

A victory Friday could potentially lead to a WVU-Marshall match-up in California in the second round. 13-seed Marshall plays 4-seed Wichita State.

The Shockers are entering their seventh consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament. Marshall will appear in their first tournament since 1987, a game that was vacated by the NCAA. The Herd have never won a tournament game.
