Preliminary hearing set for accused Taylor County murderer, more details released

GRAFTON, W.Va. – After a multi-agency operation, Joshua Price, 29, has been charged with murder in the shooting death of Tyler Poston. Poston was found by his stepfather with six gunshot wounds June 26 on top of Black Mountain in a pullout along Route 119 near the Taylor/Mon County line.

An autopsy confirmed that the wounds were not self-inflicted.

The criminal complaint states deputies developed “further information” that resulted detectives focusing on Price, who resides on Dunkard Mill Road in Farmington.

According to the criminal complaint, Investigators said they have matched shell casing found at the crime scene, in the truck belonging to Price and in his driveway to a .22 caliber pistol equipped with a suppressor that belongs to him. The ballistics analysis was done by the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms through the Charleston Police Department.

A preliminary hearing for Price is scheduled for Friday, July 16 at 1 p.m. in Taylor County.

Agencies from Taylor, Harrison and Marion counties, Charleston Police Department and the ATF conducted the operation.
