Preliminary hearings held for Alderson Broaddus students accused in Morgantown robbery

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Three Alderson Broaddus University students accused in a Morgantown robbery were scheduled for preliminary hearings Thursday.

Assistant Prosecutor Stephen Fitz said Malik Levon Cobb, 19, of Martinsburg waived his preliminary hearing.

Magistrate James Nabors found probable cause in the hearing for Daniel Joseph Eppard, 19, of Winchester, VA.

Those cases go on for consideration by a Monongalia County grand jury.

According to Fitz, Marquez Wing, 20 of Mount Airy, MD had his preliminary hearing continued. He had obtained a lawyer on Wednesday who was unaware of Thursday’s hearing.

Police say Wing, Cobb and Eppard, showed up at a man’s apartment on University Avenue April 15, assaulted him and took off with a wallet, laptop and drug paraphernalia.

The victim reportedly knew the suspects. His description led to their arrest on Grafton Road near Scott Avenue.
