Preston County man charged for spending credit in late grandmother’s name

KINGWOOD — Police say a Terra Alta man charged more than $6,000 on a credit card in his late grandmother’s name.

Brent Keith Rosenberger, 35, is charged with the felony. He was in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail Tuesday in lieu of $25,000 bond.

According to the criminal complaint by Preston Sheriff’s Sgt. J.G. Rodeheaver, Rosenberger’s grandmother died Jan. 27 and on Jan. 29 a Capital One credit card account was opened in her name, with a second card on the account issued to Rosenberger.

Between February and March, $6,649.26 was charged on the cards. The complaint says Rosenberger said he had a credit card given him by his grandmother and he “accidentally” used it “a few times” after she died.
