Salem man accused of choking, cutting his wife

SALEM, W.Va. – Deputies in Harrison County have accused Maverick Mayle, 25, of Salem, of choking and cutting his wife during an argument.

When police arrived at the Manor Apartment Complex they made contact with Mayle who had the knife in a sheath on his hip. Deputies immediately took possession of the knife and questioned the victim.

The victim told deputies she was arguing with Mayle when he began to choke her and cut her forearm with the knife. Three witnesses also verified the claim made by the victim.

Mayle told deputies he was defending himself when his wife called him a woman beater and attacked him.

Mayle has been charged with malicious assault. He was taken to the North Central Regional Jail.
