MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Monongalia County Sheriff Perry Palmer is cautioning residents about a phone scam using the United Parcel Service name(UPS).
Residents have reported receiving a phone call from a person identifying himself as a delivery driver for UPS and wants to know when they would be home to accept delivery. When potential victims inquired about the address they are looking the caller became angry and disrespectful.
Officials recommend residents hang up and call the UPS office and verify there is a delivery.
Sheriff Perry Palmer said, “Always check first, and never tell anyone you don’t know when you will or will not be home and never provide personal information over the phone.”
