Self-proclaimed pedophile indicted

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The Monongalia County Grand Jury has returned indictments against 86 people including a self-proclaimed pedophile.

The list of the indictments were released on Friday. Those people charged will now face a formal arraignment.

Among those indicted is Jonathan Carroll, 40, who was indicted for soliciting a minor via a computer, distribution and display to a minor of obscene material and distribution of sexually explicit material involving a minor.

Carroll’s arrest in November, 2015 was the culmination of an ongoing state police investigation. He came to the attention of the public when a Carroll appeared in a dated video on social media titled: “10 Reasons I’m A Pedophile.” Police also allege Carroll posted a video online expressing interest in a teen celebrity. He also viewed child pornography and shared a picture of himself online.

Carroll remains at North Central Regional Jail on $500,000 bond.
