Sikora earns another term on the Mon County Commission

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Incumbent Republican Monongalia County Commissioner Sean Sikora has been re-elected as member of the Monongalia County Commission in a race against Democrat Bob Beach.

Sikora defeated Beach with approximately 53.6% of the vote in the county, running on a “hundred reasons” campaign, where every day he identified a reason he should be re-elected to the county commission.

“Anybody that knows me knows that if I do something I do it right and I don’t do it halfway,” said Sikora celebrating his win. “I knew it was going to take a real strong effort to really put my reasons why people needed to re-elect me to the county commission, and I couldn’t be happier with the results,” he said.

Sikora credits his team’s positivity and professionalism to help with the promotion of his re-election campaign. Sikora says that running as an incumbent this year has been more difficult than running as a challenger in the past facing a longtime West Virginia State Senator.

“I think our campaign is a textbook for how campaigns should be run,” Sikora said. “We’re just professional, we didn’t have any negativity, we just really promoted why I would like to return to the county commission and I’m just so thrilled with the results,” he said.

Sikora says that his next move is to continue efforts made by commission since his first election in 2016. He says that as part of commission’s goal to work with as much of the community as possible, including on developments at the Morgantown Industrial Park, Mylan Park etc, he hopes that they can continue “working out a lot of agreements amongst ourselves while moving the county towards a brighter future.

“I ran against the commission because there were times where they would air their grievances with the city, this time, the commission had a great record,” said Sikora. “The commission has been very disciplined, and not doing a lot of those same things and really working out a lot of agreements amongst ourselves and not airing them out there to the public,” he said.
