Site selected for new downtown Morgantown fire station

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The City of Morgantown has selected a site at the intersection of Don Knotts Boulevard and Prairie Avenue for a new fire station to replace the current facility on South High Street. The new facility will be paid for through a $6M in Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) grant.

City council will vote on the purchase of the property during their January 2 meeting.

“This new location will allow quick, direct access to Don Knotts Boulevard,” said Assistant City Manager Emily Muzzarelli.

The location was selected by city officials and leadership from the Morgantown Fire Department after reviewing available space and response times.

“The Morgantown Fire Department is appreciative of Senators Capito and Manchin for their support,” said Fire Chief Eugene Deem. “This new, larger facility will be a central asset to protecting the residents of Morgantown for decades to come.”

The 1.45 acre parcel is listed by Black Diamond Realty with a published price of $775,000.
