Snake owner misses second court date, arrest warrant issued

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Following another missed court date officials have issued an arrest warrant for the owner of the missing 15-foot python, Shane Stevens.

Morgantown Municipal Judge Stephen Higgins set the second date of September 5 after Stevens missed the first date on August 14.

The snake escaped from a vehicle in Sabraton on May 30 and was last seen on the hill near Listravia Avenue. Stevens was arrested and arraigned for dog or animal at large, a misdemeanor on June 18.

Volunteers and local officials unsuccessfully searched for days following the escape.
