St. Patrick’s Day party suspect identified, not a WVU student

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Officials at WVU say the suspect on video from the St. Patrick’s Day party has turned himself into authorities.

A group of students are shown demanding a local news reporter delete video she was taking of the parties at several locations along High Street. When the reporter refused some of the students tried to stop her taking the video as she explained to them she was in the right-of-way, or public property.

The suspect is seen on video trying to get a TV reporter to stop shooting a video of the activity.

Officials released the following statement:

“Aiden Lillis, not a WVU student, turned himself into University Police Friday afternoon. The 20-year-old from Connecticut, is charged with battery in connection to an incident with a member of the media which occurred on St. Patrick’s Day at a large gathering outside a disassociated fraternity house on North High Street in Morgantown. A tip from the media and information from the public after UPD shared photos on social media helped lead to his arrest. Investigations are ongoing regarding large gatherings and potential violations of health and safety guidelines related to the pandemic.”
