FAIRMONT, W.Va. — Authorities in Marion County are searching for a man alleged to have stabbed his girlfriend while traveling on I-79 and driven close to 20 miles before she could escape.

West Virginia State Police are looking for Joseph Scott Taylor, 26 years old of Fairmont.  The victim told police she was stabbed while the two were traveling north bound on Interstate 79 between Fairmont and Morgantown.

The victim was able to escape the SUV on High Street in Morgantown and was later treated and released from the hospital for her injuries.

Taylor was last seen traveling in a black 2006 Ford Escape.  It has 20 inch rims and a temporary state registration that reads 185895.

The stabbing was January 23.
