Suspected intoxicated Clarksburg woman charged with child neglect

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. An intoxicated Clarksburg woman is facing a single count of child neglect after a small child in her care was in a soiled diaper while she was more than three times over the legal limit.

Clarksburg police made the discovery while conducting a welfare check at the home of Michelle Faraco, 55, on Coleman Avenue on Thursday, Feb. 29.

Police said when they arrived, they found Faraco, who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, slurring and stumbling when she walked, and smelled of alcohol.

Police also observed an infant in her care who had a full diaper, and some material was seeping from the child’s pants.

In the home, police found two pint-sized bottles of vodka, one empty and the other about three-quarters empty. The police also found prescription medications within reach of the child.

Faraco registered a.305 blood alcohol content during a preliminary breathalyzer test, so child protective services were called to take temporary custody of the child.

Faraco is being held in the North Central Regional Jail on a $10,000 bond.
