Suspicious vehicle report leads to arrest at White Hall marina

WHITE HALL, W.Va. A North Carolina man is behind bars after a suspicious vehicle report at a White Hall boat dealer on Sunday.

Police said Christopher Bass, 36, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, was at the facility with a knife on his belt when police arrived. When the police tried to take the knife from Bass, he ran down an embankment and into the Tygart Valley River.

Bass attempted to hide under the docks, but ultimately tried to flee by swimming across the river. Bass was apprehended on the other side of the river.

Bass is being held in the North Central Regional Jail on an outstanding warrant from North Carolina and a fleeing charge in West Virginia.
