Teen attacks Morgantown policeman

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – An 18-year-old Maryland teen is accused of attacking and choking a member of the Morgantown Police Department over the weekend.

At 1:35 a.m. Sunday the officer was transporting a prisoner to the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department for transfer to NCRJ. When the officer entered the sally port he saw an intruder and called for backup.

When backup arrived, Chad William LeClair, 18, of Fredrick, Maryland, was allegedly choking and strangling the officer. Other officers were able to subdue the suspect and restrain him.

The officer who was attacked was treated for cuts and bruises.

LeClair has been charged with malicious assault and strangulation and is being held pending arraignment.
