Teenage shooting victim remembered in services Monday

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The teenage shooting victim who was a student at Morgantown High School will be remembered for his positive attitude and smile.

The family of Damon Sochko-Seals shared funeral arrangements for the 16-year-old Friday afternoon.

The community is invited to Suncrest United Methodist Church to honor the high school senior Monday, March 14 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, March 15 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., the time of the funeral service.

The obituary from Smith Funeral & Cremation Care said Sochko-Seals passed away following injuries sustained in an accident in his home.

Christopher Smith, 21 of Morgantown, was charged with wanton endangerment in the shooting accused of mishandling a firearm.

A GoFundMe account has been set up to assist Sochko-Seals’ family with medical and funeral expenses.

The Mohigan’s wide receiver and corner is described as non-judgmental, loving and humorous.
