Three killed in weekend fires across the state

ROCK CAVE, W.Va. An 81-year-old in Upshur County was one of three people killed in fires across the state over the weekend.

The elderly male died in a fire reported in Rock Cave around 2 a.m.Saturday in the 2100 block of Gaines Road that is believed to be accidental, according to the West Virginia State Fire Marshal.

The name of the victim has not been released.

Also over the weekend, an electrical malfunction was determined to be the likely cause of the fire that killed a 67-year-old male on Friday.

On Monday morning, a 56-year-old woman died in a Putnam County apartment fire that remains under investigation.

No names have been released.
