Trucker driving on suspended license, crashes near Morgantown

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A truck driver escaped serious injury when his rig overturned coming off the Interstate 68 ramp near Sabraton.

Morgantown Police say the truck, driven by Glenn Alverez, 37, of Pikeville, MD, was trying to turn east onto Route 7, off I-68 around midnight when he lost control of the tractor-trailer, struck the guardrail causing the truck to roll on its side.

The tractor-trailer was hauling granite and marble slabs to be used for counter-tops and spilled its load on the road. Officials were forced to close Route 7 for approximately three hours while they removed the wrecked rig and cleared a large amount of debris from the roadway.

Alverez, the driver, was not injured but was cited for failure to use due care and driving on a suspended revoked operators license.
