Two children taken from Taylor County home, one arrested

GRAFTON, W.Va. – One woman has been charged after Taylor County Schools officials notified police when two children missed more than 80 days of school and reportedly smelled like feces.

On Wednesday, deputies from the Taylor County Sheriff’s Department went to the home on River Run Road and observed two children playing in the front yard before making contact with Jamie Cline, 37.

Cline let the deputies into the home, who reported a strong smell of urine or ammonia. When Cline was asked if there was anything illegal inside the home, she handed them a suspected methamphetamine pipe. Cline also admitted to using methamphetamine and Suboxone.

Cline also told deputies there hadn’t been running water in the home for about two weeks. When the police spoke to the landlord of the property, he told them there had been no running water in the home for two months.

While in the home, deputies observed 19 dogs and several cats. In the children’s room, deputies reported animal feces on the floor and a strong smell of ammonia. Levels of ammonia taken by the Boothsville Fire Department confirmed high levels of the gas.

Cline has been charged with two counts of child neglect and is being held in the North Central Regional Jail.
