Two face drug charges following Bridgeport traffic stop

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – A routine traffic stop in the Bridgeport area has resulted in felony drug charges for a Clarksburg resident for the third time this year.

Officers with the Bridgeport Police Department stopped a car driven by Parker Dennison, 26, for an unsafe lane change while attempting to merge onto I-79.

When police made contact with Dennison and passenger Jonathan Harlow, 34, at mile marker 119, they observed a straw with a burnt end fall from Harlow’s wallet.

Officers at the scene learned from witnesses that a bag was thrown from the vehicle just prior to the stop. When Harlow was taken from the vehicle, police discovered foil containing a crystal-like substance in his hat.

When police searched the vehicle, they discovered 10 grams of marijuana, less than a gram of methamphetamine, two sets of digital scales, packaging materials, and five grams of fentanyl that were recovered from the beg thrown from the window.

Neither suspect would admit to possessing the bag of fentanyl thrown from the vehicle; however, Dennison told police Harlow threw the bag out of the window.

Both have been charged with conspiracy and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and are being held in the North Central Regional Jail.

For Dennison, this is the third felony brush with the law related to drugs this year.
