United Way 2020 campaign kicks off Monday

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Monday, September 9 is United Way Day in Monongalia and Preston Counties and kickoff of the 2020 campaign. The goal of $1,345,000 will be used locally to help improve health, education and financial stability.

In the morning, volunteers and United Way employees will stand at high-traffic intersections urging motorists to honk in support of the 2020 campaign that is themed,”Invest in Your Community.”

“All of the dollars that are raised here in this county and Preston County are kept right here.” Director of Marketing and Communications Amanda Posey said. “All of that goes to fund agencies in our community.”

From noon to 1 p.m. board members, volunteers, donors and the corporate community will gather at the Pines Country Club to officially get the campaign underway with the first report of fund raising activity.

From 3 to 4 p.m. the public is invited to the front lawn of the Preston County Inn for free refreshments, games and the opportunity to learn more about the campaign.

The United Way funds 24 local agencies that directly support 46 programs to help Monongalia and Preston Counties.
