UPDATE: No ruling yet on WVU lecturer’s death

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Local police have yet to rule out homicide in the death of Elizabeth Ann Leo, Morgantown Police Chief Ed Preston said Tuesday afternoon.

Leo, 34, died last week. An employee from Lutheran Campus Ministry discovered Leo last Friday morning.

The UPD released information by mistake that Leo’s death had been ruled accidental based on a press release draft, Morgantown’s Public Information Officer Andrew Stacy told The Dominion Post.

Preston told WAJR that, without an autopsy report, Leo’s death could not be ruled accidental. All unattended deaths are treated as homicide investigations until ruled otherwise, he added.

Leo was a lecturer at WVU.
