Welfare check leads to neglect charges for Morgantown woman

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – A Morgantown woman is behind bars after leaving a child locked in a bedroom with no access to the bathroom.

Morgantown police made the discovery during a welfare check Tuesday at 10 p.m.

Jasmine Burrows, 29, told police she left the home at 6 p.m. and another woman was supposed to watch the child until she returned. Burrows told police she received a call around 9 p.m. that the woman was not going to be able to come to the home. First responders found the child locked in the bedroom with boxes stacked in front of the bathroom door.

Burrows has been charged with child neglect creating a substantial risk of injury.
