Weyen returns to lead Mon EMS

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Monongalia Emergency Medical Services (Mon EMS) has introduced Forest Weyen as the next executive director.

Last month, Mon Health System and WVU Hospitals merged the operations of Mon EMS and HealthTeam Critical Care Transport, establishing a single, countywide emergency medical system to serve the needs of Monongalia and Preston counties. Mon EMS is operated and managed by Mon Health System and WVU Hospitals.

Jimmy Smith, director of emergency management and Mecca 911 said, “We are thrilled Forest is returning to Greater Morgantown and be in this position to continue to coordinate county, community and Mon EMS emergency efforts. We look forward to his arrival and collaboration to benefit our community.”

Weyen spent the last six years as the executive director of the Bennington Rescue Squad in Vermont. Weyen earned his paramedicine certificate from Fairmont State University and worked as a paramedic and emergency medical technician for White Sulphur Springs Rescue Squad. In addition to his experience with the Marion County Rescue Squad he earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master of Business Administration degree from West Virginia University. He was a paramedic and operations chief at Mon EMS from 2001-07.

He is hired to provide complete strategic leadership and oversight of the newly formed emergency medical service. He is a proven visionary and strategic leader with 24 years of emergency services experience.
