Woman accused of poisoning her mother with morphine

FAIRMONT, W.Va. – Police in Fairmont have charged a woman with first-degree murder after allegedly giving her mother a fatal dose of morphine.

On April 11, detectives began the investigation with a suspicious death report of a 92-year-old woman at a home on Avalon Road.

Police had information that Doris Watson, 65, gave her mother the fatal dose of morphine, and she died April 10, the day before they were called to the home.

During a search of the Avalon Road property, three empty morphone containers were recovered as evidence.

Watson is being held in the North Central Regional Jail without bond.
