MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A man is in custody and charged with domestic battery following a domestic dispute that was initially reported as an abduction, according to the Morgantown Police Department.
A woman was allegedly abducted from Ruby Memorial Hospital about 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
According to scanner traffic, Ruby Memorial Hospital security saw Kristina Dalton being shoved into a grey Chevrolet Lumina with a red driver’s side door by her ex-boyfriend, Andrew McIntyre.
Lieutenant S. Carl said McIntyre is a current boyfriend of the victim and after reviewing the footage and speaking with the woman determined it was a domestic dispute, not an abduction. He said McIntyre is charged with domestic battery but was unable to confirm if Dalton was the woman involved.
All law enforcement agencies were told to look for the vehicle. Police set up observations in the area heading toward Kingwood Pike, as both involved parties had their listed address on that road.
An EMS unit reported seeing the vehicle at Mon Health’s emergency department and Dalton was found inside the ER, per scanner traffic.
Carl said the two were at Ruby’s emergency room for some kind of treatment, possibly from a vehicle accident earlier in the day. For some reason the two left Ruby, but the woman did not want to go so McIntyre forced her and took her to Mon Health’s emergency department for additional treatment, Carl said.
McIntyre was detained by MPD at about 5 p.m., according to the traffic. He requested to go the hospital but Carl did not know the specifics of any injuries.
As of about 7 p.m. on Friday, MPD was still at the hospital with McIntyre, Carl said.
