CHEAT LAKE, W.Va. — One person has drowned at Cheat Lake, the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department said Monday.
Authorities said Diana Poland, 68, from Fort Ashby, went missing from her party, which included her husband and a friend, on Sunday. A family member found her in the water by the docks close to a restaurant on Mont Chateau Road.
Authorities attempted to perform CPR on Poland. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to officials, Poland, her husband and their friend had been boating on Cheat Lake earlier in the day.
