WVU Application Launch Week begins Monday

MORGANTOWN, W.Va.Application Launch Week is underway for West Virginia University and potential students all over the world. Senior Program Coordinator and Regional Recruiter, Jody Kilpatrick said they are leveraging lessons learned during the pandemic to extend their reach into the pool of high schoolers and seniors planning a post-secondary education path.

“We are kicking off a full week of virtual events to celebrate and support students and their families with the college search, Kilpatrick said. “So, we are offering over 21 sessions.”

The virtual sessions give parents, students and family members equal access to the information regardless of their location. The events are also staffed in order to provide timely information important to the application process.

“We have sessions for everyone, but some are better suited for parents or students or counselors,” Kilpatrick said.

The interactive nature of the sessions does require students to be prepared with documents, but it also allows issues to be resolved quickly. Some of the sessions are designed for parents while others include chances for students to win prizes.

“We will have enough representatives on hand to go into a private Zoom Room with you and work with you, so bring your transcript,” Kilpatrick said.

The sessions include guided virtual tours of both Morgantown campuses and downtown. Kilpatrick said student tour guides will answer questions while showing off the facilities and scenery.

“A Go Pro on his or her head and will follow he or she around campus and physically take you through the campus areas and describe them,” Kilpatrick said.

Kilpatrick said potential students are not required to attend the Launch Week sessions and can complete the application online.

“Applications are available on the common app and we also have our own WVU online application as well, so you have two application opportunities to complete.”
