MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University Police Department (UPD) have issued a Campus Warning due to a recent burglary reports near the downtown campus.
At 12:45 a.m. on Nov. 21, UPD received a report of a burglary that had occurred at 780 Spruce Street. The suspect or suspects made entry through an unlocked exterior door and were able to get away with multiple items, including an HP laptop and Apple MacBook.
At 2:54 p.m. on Nov. 26, UPD began an investigation into a burglary at 112 Waverly Street. In this case, the victim reported sometime over the Thanksgiving break, his unlocked room inside the residence was ransacked and multiple items were taken, including a PlayStation 5 and laptop. It is believed the suspect or suspects possibly entered the residence through an unsecured exterior door.
At 6:44 p.m. on Nov. 26, UPD a third burglary investigation was initiated at 200 Belmar Avenue. The victims reported over the Thanksgiving holiday someone made entry and entered multiple rooms inside, stealing items including multiple Xbox and PlayStation video gaming systems.
UPD has no suspects at this time and would like to review video surveillance from residents in the cooperative zone — North High, Belmar, Waverly, North Spruce, Willey, Price and Fife streets.
Patrols and police presence in the area will be increased and investigators are also working partner law enforcement agencies in the area.
