MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The bell-ringing ceremony this year Friday on the WVU campus will honor the memory of Delaney Wykle and Makenzie Deditch.
Senior Associate Dean of Students & Student Advocate Kim Mosby said,”You probably remember the tragedy, Delaney was lost in the helicopter accident that happened in the Bahamas and Makenzie was a victim of a car accident.”
Wykle was a passenger aboard a helicopter with her friend Kameron Cline, daughter of coal billionaire Chris Cline. Cline, his daughter Kameron, David Jude, Jillian Clark, Brittney Searson and Geoffrey Painter were also killed in the July 4 crash off the coast of Big Grand Cay Island.
The crash remains under investigation.
The bell ceremony begins at noon on Oglebay Plaza. Attendees are asked to arrive at least 15 minutes before the ceremony starts.
Mosby said,”The bell tolls on Woodburn Hall precisely at noon, we ring our bell after the Woodburn bell rings. Then, I’ll make some remarks on behalf of the university and we open it up so anyone else can come up and share some memories.”
