WVU Department of Communications Studies plans Homecoming events

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The WVU Department of Communications Studies will welcome alumni and current students with a speed networking event and a reunion Friday.

Senior lecturer and undergraduate studies academic advisor, Nikki Loy said,”Speed networking, where we bring in some of our alumni to talk to our undergraduates and graduate students about the kinds of jobs and careers they can get with a degree in communication studies.”

The speed networking event is from 3 to 5 p.m. at Almost Heaven Bar & Grill at 374 High Street.

Loy says the event allows students to learn about what the future may hold and develop contacts that could be valuable in the future.

Loy said,”It’s a real comfortable setting and one that’s not like a job interview, said Loy. “So they can practice that so when it is time for a job interview they are ready to tell them this is who I an and these are my strengths.”

From 5 to 8 p.m. the group will stay at Almost Heaven Bar & Grill for a reception that will include students and alumni that are unable to make the session during the day.
